Librarian

Librarian’s job is to help people access and use information, for education, for work, or pleasure. Librarians organize and manage collections of books, magazines, newspapers, journals, electronic documents, and other data resources. They also help people find and understand the information they need within the library. Librarians work in a variety of settings, such as academic, public, private, school, and specialty libraries. Most library positions entail master's degrees in library science or a specialty of the field. Librarians in public schools may need to be certified, which often requires a teaching certification.

  • Librarian: A librarian is in charge of collecting, organizing, and issuing library resources such as books, films, and audio files. They work in a range of settings including public libraries, schools, and museums. Their duties include issuing resources, cataloging books, and conducting regular audits.

  • Director/Head of Information Centre: Library Directors have the main leadership role in the library. Typical duties include preparing and overseeing the budget, developing employment and service policies, strategic planning, public and governmental relations, reporting to the governing board or official, ensuring compliance with laws, fundraising, hiring, motivating and firing staff, and more.

  • Consultant: A library consultant performs a variety of job duties related to setting up a new library project or helping to increase the efficiency or usability of an existing library. As a consultant, you may work for a library system or an independent consulting company.

  • Information Assistant: Library Assistants aid librarians in the management and operation of a library. Their primary duties include helping customers locate books, checking books in and out at the front desk, and shelving books according to their categorization.

  • Deputy Librarian: A Deputy Librarian has to coordinate and supervise the work of different sections of the library. They have to provide bibliographical and reference services to the teachers and research scholars.
