  • Railways:The officers of this cadre are responsible to maintain the assets of the Electrical Department in Indian railways. The recruitment to the cadre is done through the Engineering Services Exam, conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) of India. The UPSC is responsible for recruiting middle and top-level bureaucrats for the Government of India.

  • Defence – IDSE (Indian Defence Services of Engineers):It is one of the organized Group 'A' Civil Services of Union of India under Administrative Control of Ministry of Defence. Members of these services are top notch Civil/ Electrical / Mechanical Engineering Professionals drawn from IITs/ NITs and other reputed engineering colleges all over India. They enter into this service through Indian Engineering Services Examination conducted by UPSC every year.

  • Civil Aviation:Extensive work at a responsible level in the installation, maintenance and operation of electrical facilities, specifically for airports such as power generation, electrical power distribution, airfield lighting, and communications

  • Power Sector:Working in a power plant or developing software to improve electrical equipment are the primary tasks of an electrical engineer.

  • D.R.D.O.:For an electrical engineer there are many options in DRDO. You can work on RADAR, Samyukta and electronic warfare. Technologies on which they work are battlefield surveillance radar, EOCM class laser system, 3D-car, revathi, weapon locating radar, eye safe laser, multi detector tomography system, laser warning sensor, threshold detector.
